The 7th annual MIX brings together 16 bartenders to compete in a larger than life cocktail battle to raise funds for Philbrook education programs. Over 650 patrons and ticketholders taste creations throughout the evening before voting for their favorite. Likewise beverage industry connoisseurs - such as 2017 special guest judge Noah Rothbaum (The Daily Beast), 2016 judge Paul Clarke (Imbibe Magazine) - evaluate each libation to name a critics choice winner.
MIX began in 2012 on a rooftop in Downtown Tulsa by Philbrook Young Masters Society Members Holly & Jack Allen and Shea & Bruce Roach and continues as one of the hottest mixology contests in the region. In 2013, the event moved to the historic Cain's Ballroom. MIX 2017, under the leadership of Co-Chairs Stephanie & Michael Madsen, served a sellout crowd of 650 and raised over $137,000 to benefit Philbrook educational programming and Museum operations.
In 2017, Scott Phillips of Vintage 1740 took home the Judges’ Choice award. Chris Armstrong of Arnie’s Bar earned the People’s Choice award.
MIX raises critical funds for Philbrook educational programming and Museum operations. To date MIX has brought over $550,000 to Philbrook, while introducing dozens to the Philbrook Ambassador’s Circle, an active group of Members interested in promoting arts and culture through Philbrook.
